ccas

hey people. can understand some of you are feeling down cos didnt get into soccer, but cheer up yea? its not the end of the world. it seems like. i mean, look at me, i wanted hockey or softball in ri, and i ended up being in red cross for FOUR years so be grateful you didn't end up like me in ri, at least. anyway just keep your mind open i guess, for every cca there are pros and cons. soccer may seem to be what you want, but if you factor in permanent injuries over the years (which may mean you can't do a hell lotta stuff in the future) and the fatigue u get (which will affect your results...you're in rjc cos of your results, not your soccer) you might not be exactly getting a great deal. so whatever cca you're in just love what you're doing, and you'll enjoy yourself (i did love doing some of the stuff in red cross you know), so cheer up yea?

anyway speaking of ccas im quite worried cos i didnt feel i did great in volleyball trials today. standing broad jump i did 255 (i tink i can cross 260) during practice and i exhausted myself figuring out if i jumped further with or without shoes, only to jump 250 in the actual thing. shuttle run they refused to let me take off my shoes which i was convinced would have reduced my timing by 2-3 seconds anyway. then the psychomotor test i got anxious and screwed up the first action and completely dieded, in short. i could only do it stationary, not when i was moving. oh well i really hope i can get into volleyball, cos i don't really have a safety net or another cca i really wanna join. soccer it's more or less already too late, council i don't feel like campaigning nor not necessarily will i get in (although council does seem hella fun), interact i dunno if can get through interview, recas dunno if they're gonna reduce membership or what, my current affairs isnt exactly great. odac i didn't submit some form today which may mean they've kicked me out or something. in short i have no sure cca which sucks cos i have no sense of security. boo.

please let me get into my preferred choices for cca...

on another note when we went back to ri on tuesday it was highly entertaining. first we took super long to get mrs chong's attention, after which she popped outta class and said she was glad to see us, especially jian feng. she started to talk about jian's wonderful plunge into english literature and jian started giving smart answers like "i'm enjoying it very much" before finally saying he changed to econs. all the while he was moving back to which she asked "why you stand so far away from me, you scared ah?" so jian dutifully moved back. then she told her class to greet "her favourite student, jianfeng", and the class just mumbled some words. jian went into his npcc mode and started scolding them for not having respect for seniors and mrs chong immediately agreed and repeated every single word of his to the class until they made a more decent effort to greet jian. and in the end we left and she said "look forward to meeting you guys again, especially you, jian feng. i'm really serious, okay?" see! mrs chong so sweet and nice to jian right..

after that we went to crash mr lim boon huat's lesson and he showed us a normal circuit, got bulb, battery and a rod as a resistor. the question was whether the rod had to be a conductor, so we pushed berge in to answer the question. he said it had to be a conductor, to which mr lim asked incredulously "you supposed to get 11 A1s ah?" turns out the answer is that it can be a charged insulator and therefore not necessarily a conductor.

oh well. tmr got og outing, going to daniel's chen office-cum-hostel-cum-house. its actually an ex-office building of which his family owns one whole level (5000 sq feet plus) and rents out some rooms to other students. unfortunately we're having bbq (being the lazy bum i am, i prefer pizza) which is dirty, troublesome, mafan. gah. i'd take pizza anyday.
